Why Fiji?

Why Fiji?

Our goal here at the Lambda Iota Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta is to take young undergraduates and transform them to be leaders and gentlemen of their respective communities after graduation. We believe that by pursuing our Fraternity’s five core values; Friendship, Knowledge, Service, Morality, and Excellence, we are able to provide value to all of our members and prepare our members for a successful life after graduation.

Why should I join FIJI?

Friendship: We believe we have one of the strongest brotherhoods on Purdue’s campus. We encourage intentional brotherhood by participating in numerous intramural sports competitions, holding several brotherhood events such as basketball/volleyball tournaments, and participating in several service projects in the West Lafayette area.

Knowledge: We place the utmost importance on instilling strong academic performance within all of our members from Day 1 until graduation. Our dedication to this principle has consistently allowed us to be ranked within the top 15 of 41 chapters at Purdue, and we have had a chapter cumulative GPA over 3.0 for 46 consecutive semesters.

Service: We place a high value on participating in service projects/philanthropic events throughout each school year at our chapter. During the Fall, the junior class participates in helping re-mulch a community park running trail and the sophomore class volunteers in Winterization, which helps local West Lafayette elderly home-owners prepare for the upcoming winter season. We believe these projects help us give back to our communities, and also help strengthen our brotherhood.

Morality: We recognize that to be valued and respected among members of Purdue University, FIJI men need to always act in a responsible and moral manner. A term we have coined is, “Be a FIJI Gentlemen” to us, that means holding doors open for others, helping friends/strangers out when possible, and treating everyone as we expect to be treated.

Excellence: Excellence is the goal of all of our members in any daily action. From academics, to intramurals, to acting as ‘a FIJI gentleman’, we believe the work to pursue a higher goal portrays the value of excellence in all our members.
